They needed a healthy center since Mihm and Bynum were gone who would provide them defense? I know he sucks. Heck even Phil Jackson would say so, but they need him for space. They need 14 players in total and he would complete them. That is why they signed him for the rest of the season. It wasn't because Jackson wanted him but they needed him. The Lakers are probably out of cap space now and they wanted someone cheap until Chris and Andrew return.

No nba players suck!!!!they were all the best once whether it was high school!!!college or in europe!!!There just players that are better than them the lakers are good,im sure he doesnt get alot of minutes!!!

That's just Phil Jackson getting ready for the playoffs. DJ is a 7 foot defensive presence that will get you 6 more fouls. They don't need him to score. That's what Kobe, Odom, and Pau is there for. With Mihm down, you will see DJ's value in the playoffs.
